Klub Liga Inggris Incar Scott McTominay dari Napoli

Sejumlah klub Liga Inggris dilaporkan mengincar gelandang Napoli, Scott McTominay, menjelang bursa transfer musim panas 2026 menyusul performa impresif sang pemain di kompetisi Serie A Italia pada Kamis (28/5/2026).

Pemain internasional Skotlandia berusia 29 tahun tersebut sukses membawa Napoli meraih gelar juara Serie A musim 2024/2025 dan trofi Supercoppa Italiana, serta menyabet penghargaan Pemain Terbaik Serie A 2025. Berdasarkan laporan, Manchester United dan Newcastle United menjadi tim yang serius mempertimbangkan perekrutan sang gelandang.

Mantan bintang timnas Skotlandia, Robert Snodgrass, memberikan pandangannya kepada GOAL mengenai potensi kembalinya sang gelandang ke Old Trafford dengan nilai transfer yang besar.

"I think if he goes and does it in that World Cup stage, that will sort of put people in a more comfortable position to try and spend that big money because there will be a big transfer fee on him. “I think when you look at it, probably him getting that time away from Man United, would it be a bad shout actually seeing Man United to bring him back? Because they speak about players like Joshua Zirkzee in those attacking positions. “I think he would fill that void because he knows the club, he’s been away, he’s learned his trade in terms of having that big mentality, that I deserve to be here and I’m one of the mainstays. I think you need that and I think he’s got it." ujar Robert Snodgrass, Mantan Pemain Timnas Skotlandia.

Snodgrass menilai posisi terbaik McTominay saat ini adalah sebagai gelandang serang nomor 8 atau 10 setelah sang pemain mencetak 14 gol dan 4 asis untuk Napoli sepanjang musim ini.

"For me, Scott is an 8 and a 10. I like him better in that advanced position because he can make runs in behind, which I think is vital as a number 8. “You could toss a coin at saying an 8 and 10 are the same things as the 10 wouldn’t need to be tracking back as much as the 8 needs to track back. There’s a lot of different things but he’s got both. He could play in that sort of 10 and he can score goals. “One thing Scott McTominay does so well is he gets himself in the box. He always gives himself a chance to score goals and he attacks the ball so well in those danger areas. “I think he’s a great option as an 8 or 10. He played centre-back for Scotland which is probably what got him in the team first and foremost. He probably had to lay the foundations and realise how much of a big part he is for his teams. “Scott wasn’t in the team when I was first coming through but he’s a tertiary lad with an absolutely fantastic attitude and it’s a great opportunity for him to showcase himself this summer." kata Robert Snodgrass, Mantan Pemain Timnas Skotlandia.

Di sisi lain, jurnalis Sun Sport Shaun Curtis mengungkapkan dalam acara Inside the Toon via TalkSport bahwa Napoli justru sedang berupaya memagari sang pemain dengan kontrak jangka panjang.

"And the McTominay argument, Napoli are working on giving him a new contract up to 2032 at Napoli. There's a question he could be bought for maybe £65million. It sounds a lot, but I really do feel he’d help transform Newcastle." tutur Shaun Curtis, Jurnalis Sun Sport.

Pernyataan tersebut disepakati oleh Adam Clery dari Independent yang juga menyukai profil permainan gelandang Napoli tersebut.

"I would love Scott McTominay." kata Adam Clery, Jurnalis Independent.

Meskipun rumor kepindahannya ke Premier League terus berembus dengan nilai pasar mencapai 65 juta poundsterling, Napoli dikabarkan tidak berada dalam tekanan untuk menjual karena sang pemain masih terikat kontrak hingga 2028 setelah dibeli seharga 26 juta poundsterling. Dilansir dari Corriere dello Sport, perwakilan McTominay bahkan sudah menggelar pembicaraan dengan Direktur Olahraga Napoli, Giovanni Manna, terkait perpanjangan masa bakti.

McTominay sendiri sebelumnya sempat menegaskan komitmennya di Naples dan membantah spekulasi mengenai masa depannya kepada media pada Februari lalu.

"My agent has not communicated with anyone regarding my future. He only speaks with me and with the club. “He hasn't said anything to the newspapers. I am extremely happy here and, as far as I am concerned, I am a Napoli player; it is all I think about. The future is very important and I could see myself in Napoli for a long time." tegas Scott McTominay, Pemain Napoli.

Fokus utama McTominay saat ini adalah mempersiapkan diri membela timnas Skotlandia di Piala Dunia 2026, di mana mereka tergabung dalam Grup C bersama Haiti, Maroko, dan Brasil.
