Faishal Ibrahim Mundur dari Jabatan Menteri Singapura

Pelaksana Tugas Menteri yang Bertanggung Jawab atas Urusan Umat Islam Singapura, Faishal Ibrahim, mengundurkan diri dari jabatannya pada Senin (20/7/2026). Langkah ini diambil akibat kekhilafan penanganan interaksi dengan seorang wanita. Pengunduran diri tersebut juga mencakup posisinya sebagai Anggota Parlemen (MP) Marine Parade-Braddell Heights GRC serta keanggotaan dari Partai Aksi Rakyat (PAP).

Perdana Menteri Lawrence Wong mengonfirmasi penerimaan surat pengunduran diri tersebut. Keduanya sempat saling melaporkan dugaan pelecehan ke pihak kepolisian. Namun, Kepolisian Singapura bersama Kejaksaan Agung mengonfirmasi tidak ada tindak pidana yang dilakukan oleh kedua belah pihak sehingga tidak ada tindakan hukum yang diambil.

"There was a lapse of judgment on my part in the way I handled the interactions, and in failing to establish clearer boundaries at an earlier stage," kata Faishal Ibrahim, mantan Anggota Parlemen Marine Parade-Braddell Heights GRC.

Mantan akademisi Universitas Nasional Singapura tersebut menegaskan keputusannya untuk fokus penuh bersama keluarga. "I have therefore decided it is right for me to step away from politics so that I can devote my time and attention to my family," kata Faishal Ibrahim, mantan Anggota Parlemen Marine Parade-Braddell Heights GRC.

Ia menyampaikan permohonan maaf terbuka kepada para pendukung dan warga di daerah pemilihannya atas keputusan mendadak ini. "I know that this news will come as a surprise to many. I hope you will understand my decision not to say more, out of respect for my family’s privacy," kata Faishal Ibrahim, mantan Anggota Parlemen Marine Parade-Braddell Heights GRC.

Faishal juga mengutarakan rasa terima kasih atas dukungan sang istri selama masa sulit tersebut. "I am grateful for their support, especially my wife, who has been standing by me throughout this difficult period," kata Faishal Ibrahim, mantan Anggota Parlemen Marine Parade-Braddell Heights GRC. Ia meyakini penggantinya dapat melanjutkan amanah melayani komunitas Muslim dengan baik.

"I have every confidence Zaqy and the team will continue the work to strengthen the Malay/Muslim community “with commitment and care”," kata Faishal Ibrahim, mantan Anggota Parlemen Marine Parade-Braddell Heights GRC.

Perdana Menteri Lawrence Wong menyampaikan tanggapannya secara tertulis mengenai pengunduran diri tersebut. "Most of their interactions took place through online messages," kata Lawrence Wong, Perdana Menteri Singapura. Wong menambahkan bahwa pertemuan fisik juga sempat terjadi di sela-sela acara publik.

"They also met on the sidelines of public events," kata Lawrence Wong, Perdana Menteri Singapura.

Ia menegaskan ada penilai standar etika terpisah bagi pejabat publik di luar ranah pidana. "there was a separate question of whether Associate Professor Faishal’s conduct met the standards expected of a political office holder and member of parliament," kata Lawrence Wong, Perdana Menteri Singapura.

Faishal lantas mengakui kekurangannya sebelum mengajukan pengunduran diri secara resmi. "Upon reflecting on the matter, Associate Professor Faishal accepted that his conduct fell short of these standards, and tendered his resignation," kata Lawrence Wong, Perdana Menteri Singapura.

PM Wong menyatakan rasa prihatin atas pengunduran diri menterinya dalam situasi tersebut. "I am saddened that you are leaving politics under these circumstances," kata Lawrence Wong, Perdana Menteri Singapura. Namun, ia menghargai sikap Faishal yang mau mengambil tanggung jawab penuh.

"But I appreciate your acknowledgement that your conduct fell short of the standards expected of you, and your decision to take responsibility for it," kata Lawrence Wong, Perdana Menteri Singapura.

Ketua PAP Desmond Lee menegaskan tidak ada pemilu sela (by-election) di Marine Parade-Braddell Heights GRC. Empat anggota parlemen tersisa akan mengambil alih tugas Faishal. "There will be no by-election called.

We've seen that in the Jurong GRC situation and in Sengkang GRC. The key is whether the residents' needs are adequately provided for," kata Desmond Lee, Ketua PAP. Empat legislator lainnya dipastikan akan meningkatkan upaya pelayanan warga di Kembangan.

"In this case, the four other MPs for Marine Parade–Braddell Heights GRC will step up, step forward, put in extra effort to ensure that the residents of Kembangan are taken care of – of all communities and of all backgrounds," kata Desmond Lee, Ketua PAP.

Desmond Lee mengapresiasi pengabdian dua dekade Faishal di birokrasi dan parlemen. "Looking ahead, the party will make additional arrangements to strengthen the team here, so residents can be assured that addressing their concerns and continuing to serve them remains our top priority," kata Desmond Lee, Ketua PAP.

Mengenai kekhawatiran masyarakat Melayu-Muslim, Desmond memastikan layanan seluruh anggota parlemen berlaku inklusif. "Certainly, the Malay-Muslim community will be concerned because the minister for Muslim affairs looks after their specific issues, concerns and aspirations," kata Desmond Lee, Ketua PAP.

Pemerintah berjanji menjaga komitmen pelayanannya kepada masyarakat Melayu-Muslim secara konsisten. "But the PAP government's commitment to the Malay-Muslim community, as well as to all communities in Singapore, remains firm and clear," kata Desmond Lee, Ketua PAP. Ia menyinggung pentingnya regenerasi kepemimpinan yang berulang kali ditekankan Perdana Menteri.

"I would say that regardless of whether this happened or not, PM is very focused on ensuring that there is a good pipeline of Singaporeans – not just of calibre but of integrity and a willingness of service – to step forward and serve Singapore," kata Desmond Lee, Ketua PAP.

Keputusan mundur dianggap langkah tepat guna menjaga kepercayaan publik terhadap partai dan pemerintah. "His action of offering to resign is the correct one. It is a painful decision for him, it is a difficult situation for us, but we think this is necessary in order to uphold these standards and maintain public trust in our politics," kata Desmond Lee, Ketua PAP. Anggota Parlemen Marine Parade-Braddell Heights GRC, Seah Kian Peng, menegaskan program komunitas Kembangan terus berjalan tanpa hambatan.

"I think we already have, actually, quite a few that we will be announcing in the months ahead. So that will not change," kata Seah Kian Peng, Anggota Parlemen Marine Parade-Braddell Heights GRC.

Seah mengakui pergantian MP di Kembangan untuk kedua kalinya dalam tiga tahun merupakan hal yang disayangkan. "As a team, we always focus on what we need to do going forward," kata Seah Kian Peng, Anggota Parlemen Marine Parade-Braddell Heights GRC.

Tim MP tersisa berjanji akan memberikan upaya terbaik bagi seluruh warga Kembangan. "The commitment we make to the residents at Kembangan is that all of us, with the team behind us … we will work to make sure that your needs, your issues, your problems you may have, we will take them up and to the best of our ability, we will try to make it work and solve," kata Seah Kian Peng, Anggota Parlemen Marine Parade-Braddell Heights GRC.

Menteri Negara Senior Zaqy Mohamad ditunjuk menggantikan posisi Faishal sebagai Pelaksana Tugas Menteri yang Bertanggung Jawab atas Urusan Umat Islam. "There is still a lot of important work ahead of us, and we must continue building on the progress our community has made," kata Zaqy Mohamad, Plt Menteri Urusan Umat Islam Singapura.
