Skotlandia Hadapi Curacao dalam Laga Uji Coba Piala Dunia

Tim nasional sepak bola Skotlandia dijadwalkan bertanding melawan Curacao dalam laga persahabatan internasional di Stadion Hampden Park, Glasgow, pada Sabtu, 30 Mei 2026 sebagai persiapan akhir sebelum bertolak ke Amerika Serikat untuk berkompetisi di Piala Dunia.

Pertandingan ini menjadi momen penting bagi kedua negara yang sedang membangun momentum, di mana Skotlandia bersiap tampil kembali di Piala Dunia sejak 1998, sedangkan Curacao akan mencatatkan debut bersejarah mereka di turnamen tersebut.

Manajer Skotlandia, Steve Clarke, mengungkapkan bahwa laga melawan tim dari zona CONCACAF ini sangat krusial untuk mengukur kekuatan calon lawan mereka di pertandingan pembuka fase grup nanti.

"Curacao and Haiti are quite often playing against each other, so that will give us that level," kata Steve Clarke, Head Coach Skotlandia kepada BBC Scotland.

"It will give us an idea of the level in that part of the world."

Clarke menambahkan bahwa fokus utama dari laga ini adalah memberikan pertandingan kompetitif yang bagus serta memastikan seluruh pemain terhindar dari risiko cedera menjelang turnamen besar.

"What we hope for is a good competitive game against Curacao and, obviously, no injuries is first and foremost in everybody's mind," ujar Steve Clarke, Head Coach Skotlandia.

"We want to win the game and give the crowd a good feeling as we leave and give ourselves a good feeling as we leave the country for what's going to be a big challenge."

Juru taktik Skotlandia tersebut juga memberikan apresiasi tinggi kepada pelatih Curacao, Dick Advocaat, yang memiliki rekam jejak karier luar biasa termasuk masa-masa suksesnya saat menangani klub lokal, Rangers.

"I was looking at the list of clubs he's been at, the jobs that he's had is absolutely incredible - fantastic career," tutur Steve Clarke, Head Coach Skotlandia.

"What he did at Rangers is well remembered here. He said he had a great time over here."

Pertemuan ini terwujud setelah komunikasi awal antara kedua pelatih saat menghadiri agenda pengundian grup Piala Dunia beberapa waktu lalu.

"The first time I met Dick was actually at the World Cup draw and him and his delegation were pretty clear that they wanted a friendly against Scotland before the World Cup, so it's fantastic that we can bring them here to Glasgow," ucap Steve Clarke, Head Coach Skotlandia.

"If it's a great story for us that we've qualified, it's like a fairytale for Curacao to be going to a World Cup - country that size - and a credit to Dick, his staff and the players that have managed to do that."

Clarke pun menyadari catatan positif yang dimiliki pelatih asal Belanda tersebut ketika memimpin tim di Stadion Hampden Park pada masa lalu.

"Apparently he's got quite a good record [at Hampden], so hopefully we can put a spanner in the works on that one," seloroh Steve Clarke, Head Coach Skotlandia.

Mengenai kondisi internal tim, proses persiapan Skotlandia diakui berjalan tidak seperti biasa karena kedatangan para pemain yang terbagi dalam beberapa gelombang akibat berakhirnya kompetisi domestik secara bertahap.

"No injury concerns at the moment, so hopefully everyone fit and available," sebut Steve Clarke, Head Coach Skotlandia.

"The starting XI against Haiti will be slightly different to the starting XI tomorrow. I would imagine we're allowed to make 11 substitutions and pretty much most of them will be used. In my mind, I'm thinking in my mind four or five changes at half-time."

Clarke menegaskan pentingnya rotasi dan menit bermain bagi para pilar yang sudah tidak bertanding sejak awal Mei demi beradaptasi dengan kondisi turnamen yang menuntut kedalaman skuad.

"We've also got players that haven't played since the start of May. They need some minutes on the pitch."

"It's going to be a squad World Cup, not just the team. Every match there'll be 16 players going on the pitch at some stage. Between games, there'll be rotations in certain positions."

"The modern game is pretty much a squad game anyway, but it's going to be even more out there because of the extreme conditions."

Gelandang Skotlandia, Ryan Christie, menyatakan kesiapannya untuk menghadapi laga ini dan memandang Curacao sebagai lawan tangguh yang lolos ke Piala Dunia atas dasar kepantasan.

"Every single team that's going to the World Cup is there on merit, so they must be a good side. I'm sure it'll be a tough test tomorrow for us," ungkap Ryan Christie, Gelandang Skotlandia.

"It's a good kind of warm-up. It's exactly what we're needing. It'll be nice to play in front of the fans."

Christie berharap seluruh rekan setimnya bisa menyelesaikan pertandingan tanpa kendala fisik dan mengamankan hasil positif sebagai modal kepercayaan diri.

"Hopefully we all stay injury-free, come out the other side of it and put a good performance together and get a win even better going into the tournament," harap Ryan Christie, Gelandang Skotlandia.

Di kubu lawan, Dick Advocaat merasa pertandingan ini terasa emosional dan spesial bagi dirinya yang kembali ke Skotlandia dengan status yang berbeda.

"It's special. I had already some memories with the national team from Holland to play against Scotland, but I didn't expect to play against Scotland with Curacao," aku Dick Advocaat, Head Coach Curacao.

"I was quite successful here in this stadium."

Pertandingan persahabatan internasional ini tercatat sebagai pertemuan perdana sepanjang sejarah antara Skotlandia dan Curacao, di mana setelah laga ini Skotlandia dijadwalkan melawan Bolivia di New Jersey pada 9 Juni 2026.
